Realities That Have Me | NAV |
Back in 2002 I discovered I liked writing. I know, not that long ago (okay, it seems like forever to me :D). Since that day I have been writing stories, in one form or another, for purely my own enjoyment. I don’t personally think I'm good enough to get a publisher, and that’s not to mention my work ethic (Atlanita? I've had that in the works for almost two years now :P). So, bellow I will mention what stories I'm currently workin on, what books I'm currently reading, what TV shows I'm watchin and movies I would like to see, so that you may see what influences me and my writing. Please enjoy, and please comment.
Drumb roll please!

12/08/04:
Hark! It’s the ghost of distracted writers past! Okay, not completely. Yes, I abandoned you, erm, those three(?)/four(?) people who actually read this. No, I have no clue who you are (or, as the case may now be, were) and I doubt very much that the absence of my melodious monologue has turned your life into hell. I'm sure it must be bugging you to know why I erm, forgot about you. No? Well you can leave now (and don’t let the door hit you on the way out) or you can sit and find out.
First, the update of Halloween. It did not occur because I was working on the furious task of creating the coolest costume in the world (I succeeded, and I hope to acquire proof of this from one Jesse Newman...), but afterwards I was in a crippled state of rage brought on by the abandonment of a close companion...YOU KNOW WHO YOU ARE!!! The next week was a busy week of school work, the week afterwards was the preparation for Thanksgiving which brought stress (and forgetfulness) into the system, along with a desire to escape reality and reseed into my writing. Then there was Thanksgiving, perfect in everyway until one elderly asshole showed up and ruined everything. Then there was the recovery from Dale, and finally, my closure in the world of fiction. Yes, I have been reading alot. Not just a bit, but a bunch (which is slightly less then 80% but undoubtedly more then 70%) and have come to one conclusion!
No, I'm not going to tell you what it is, least not yet. First, there is other news to discuss.
While I have undoubtedly managed to place copies of my works into everyone’s hands who normally read my writings, I think I have failed to provide an access for those few (and by few, I mean I measure you in decimal increments of .007) passersby who may stumble upon my works (works, ha, more like delightful scuba trips into sewage processing facilities...), and am currently working to correct that problem.
I have not been watchin much teleview lately but... OOOH STARGATE IS ON!!... erm, but I have been keeping up with my usuals. And a few new favorites! Such as Full Metal Alchemist; a tale of two brothers searching for a way to return their lost flesh in a land who's soul rule is that to receive you must first give something of equal worth, then there's Ghost in the Shell: Stand Alone Complex; a tale of the not so distant –and definitely possible, if not probable—future where the line between man and machine is blurred. Also, I have acquired a greater amount of downloaded media with the additions of VanDread and Macross Plus to my collections.
Found a new music group that I like, The Refreshments. Definitely cool beans in my opinion. They complement Cowboy Mouth (without the religious melodramatic overtones) and work well with Beck while producing a nice contrast to Machinae and a delightful addition to American Girls. Also, I have finally acquired some songs by The Pillows, a marvelous Japanese group who did many of the songs from FoolyCooly (definitively good).
Books, told you I'd get back to them. Read a book called Vincalis the Agitator, poorly written, but a good plot, it met my needs for the moment with dull main characters but an interesting concept. Then I started The Postman. Got about 2/3rds through it before I got to depressed (very dreary unfortunately) and switched to... Miles Errant. Bout 3/8ths through with it. Not sure if I like it or not. Fairly good writing, damn awesome characters, and a good setting (scifi, not like Vincalis, which was really more of a scifi twist on fantasy). Hmm, I still have those Halo books of Hits to read, not sure when I’ll get to them, ought to be pretty soon...
I'm more drawn (haha, it’s a pun you see) then ever to the world of animation, even if it is my craptastic paint images that fill the screen. I have completely given up on any standing projects (with the exception of Tomorrow of course) and am beginning to wonder about (GASP) school. Yes, I know, its odd, but there is one class I do not like, and am in doubt of passing, probably mostly because of the teacher...Namely, the narrow minded twofaced bigot formally known as Mayor of Reedsport (now know as Lame Duck Tymchuck). His hole community service kick is a real nuisance, I mean, the last time this community did anything for this school was, well never but...
Well I'm babbling, I think I’ll go work on other stuff (namely the lameduck assignment I have abandoned...), talk to you all this Friday (yes, that’s the day after tomorrow). And remember, If your gonna be a bigot, make sure you’re the highest ranking bigot around.

Gasp, I'm late! Yeah yeah, big whoopdy doo. I’ll er, do something to make it up to the three to eight people who potentially read this. How bout smores? No? No smores? Oh well, more for me.
Remember how just a month ago an afore mentioned old bag of wind showed up? Recall again how poorly that week was? (if not, read below!). Well guess what, that’s why this is late. Wendy came home, so we been workin on the Halloween costume, and then Dale showed up bringing death and destruction and surprisingly alot less hassle then normal. I think he’s finally getting the idea that he can be civil and still get results.
No news on Tomorrow, right now I'm in a writing funk when it comes to dreary apocalyptic world settings, but if I write some more on it, I’ll be sure to let you all know.
Was reading up on MOSPEDEA/ Robotech Next Generation when I came across the idea of doing things my way, should expect an update regarding that quite soon, so far its known as Operation Invid War. Expect Mek action, scifi-shenanigans, Mekton campaign info, and short stories, maybe even CG pictures (nope, not a chance, but keep dreaming). We’ll see what comes together. Hope for the best, expect the worse, deny everything else. I'm hella on the Robotech/Macross bandwagon right now. So expect next month for me to be on a new kick.
Next on the list: Slowing the rotation of the earth. I think we should purposefully stop the spinning of the earth to a nice comfortable 48 hour day. Now I know some of you will say “What the hell” but I'm only suggesting we make the days longer, and keep the same clock. That way you get up at 6:30 AM, go to school, come home at 3:30 PM, then have from 3:30PM to 6:30AM the day after tomorrow to sleep and/or what ever. Anyone who disagrees can be fired.... out of a cannon... into a wall... and then scrapped off into the moat.
Well, I’ll see about updating again tomorrow. Hold your breath! (ha! You’ll die for sure!!)
| 10/16/04:
Okay so I didn’t update yesterday, my bad :P My week has been, on a scale of 1 to 10, a 4 (where 10 is duh best). Remember the afore mentioned homo-work? There was hell to pay in tests. I've taken 5 tests and one lab over the past three days. I hate school...
On to better waters! I got episode 4 of Macross Zero. For those of you who are the Macross-illiterates Macross is the coolest ferkin thing since the invention of the flame. Watch it, buy it, read about it, I don’t care, just get on the Macross wagon. Unfortunately episode 4 wasn’t as action packed as I had expected, but it was still cool.
Ooh, Twelve Monkeys, that’s a great movie! Love the idea, really talks about the human complex (and some better then decent sci-fi plot twists). Speaking on the human complex, Gasaraki leaves me wondering if two plus two really does equal four, cause its just a few fries short of a happy meal. Real shame, since its got the most realistic Meks I've ever seen. WOOT! Deathlands is up next! Yeah! That’s great, I love Deathlands. If you havn’t seen the movie (the movie kinda sucks ass once you’ve read the books, but that’s how life is) you’ll have a better understanding on what I based Tomorrow on.
And speaking of Tomorrow... well, okay, I’ll try to write some more on it. No fan support!
Okay, today my plans are simple, re-watch the Macross Zero episodes (Ep. 3 is the shit!) and then if I still feel like it I'm either gonna watch A) Jay and Silent Bob Strike Back or B) Drunken Master.
Good riddance, and good night!

Well its that time of the week again. So far this week has been awesome. Its been unbelievably good for the soul purpose of me having not gone to school (there's hell to pay in homo-work but I can live with that). The downside, I was home cause my toe is not better (in fact, it got substantially worse, and now has only started to get marginally better. Its really gross, if you need a description just ask for it :D).
I’ve been workin like mad on my little projects. Wrote some more on Tomorrow (it was updated, I’ll have to update it again tomorrow because I’ve written some more, and plan to add more tomorrow/tonight) and I have re-discovered my love of Doga, I’ll stick the pic I'm working on up in the projects page :D. My art project (that is “Mek Wars” where I plan to combine cgi[that’s computer generated images] with pgi [that’s paint generated images :D] and make a cool movie) has gone along surprisingly well, amazing that you can spend most of two days working on something and not really get anything done. I have a long way to go on it, and I'm looking forward to it one hundred percent. It’s so relieving to work on it, its like my own escape from reality where I can pour my stress into a nuclear reaction, where culmination of annoyance and disorder produces pure magic (or atleast its magic for me :D).
Story wise! Yes, I wrote more, technically I'm almost outa the hole in the ground! Can’t wait till that happens. It’ll be good to get Adam out and about in the real world, see a little, develop some character, oh, and action would be nice too (I've been dieing to do a good death scene). I got a phone call from Fo-shizzle-N. Middle. asking for a little assistance on a project of his (you can check that out aswell. Infact, do :P it’s old and crappy but its something, and reading is good for you!) so that should be up till he says he’s gotten it.
On a side note. No one (of the four to eight people who potentially read this) have commented about Atlanita. Hasn’t anyone read it? I know the last part sucks but it can’t get better without your help!! (Lies, all lies! don’t read it, I don’t want to get distracted from Tomorrow...)
Havn’t read anymore of my book, havn’t watched much TV, and havn’t seen any movies. Scratch that, I downloaded episode 8 of Gasaraki (bitchin) and watched episode 1 of Scryed (way cool anime, probably the best anime that doesn’t have mecha).
Holy shit this is getting long. Oh damn, just realized today is actually Friday (and I don’t normally update till Saturday), hmm... maybe I’ll change the update to Friday, since Saturday has good stuff on TV :P
Talk to you later!

Holding your breath? Don’t. This week has been a trip through hell. Dale was down, so nothing got accomplished, my toe is infected, so I havn’t been able to (physically) do anything, Hitler’s been being a total shit head (gasp, real surprise, I know. Thinking bout giving up that lack-luster friendship...), I havn’t even gotten to read any of my damn book... Grr I hate this damn world... it so back-ass-wards...
On the good news, Alton Brown has re-peeked my interest, he’s this cook dude on food network, really funny. Hmm, that’s it for good news.
Next week: Suicide by psychosis or why people should have to carry licenses to talk.

In the news: Not much change TV wise, still waitin for the break to get over. I havn’t been watchin to much TV thus :P Lol, it totally bights, since there's nothing else goin-on on TV :P
Okay, last week I mentioned that I'm a huge fuckin fan of David Brin. It has been raised from huge fuckin fan, to slight occult appeal. Yeah, I'm reading his book “Earth” I'm like two hundred pages into it and I'm already hooked, line and sinker :P Totally cool setting, and the characters are really compelling. Okay, last night (its Saturday now) I had a cool dream where the world had all gone to total shit, and some sorta echo-Nazi group showed up, but anyways, it was really cool. I’ve got a very strong urge to work on Tomorrow, maybe tie that bit in there somewhere (it was awesome, but I guess you just had to be there :D). Look for a bit more before next weeks update :D
I'm still waiting on Sky Captain. Reportedly its coming to our highschool, so I'm gonna have to watch it then. Shawn of the Dead has gone up a level on the list of movies I want to see. I don’t know why :D
The Big Fin? In the future, man kind will be overpopulated and underfed. Animals will live in giant glass pyramids called Arks, and black holes will be slowly consuming the center of the earth. While in other dimensions, the world is a much worse place :D

Right now I'm waiting for the break to get over with. Yes, I am back in school, I am referring to the fall break that Sci-Fi takes on its shows. I'm still as riveted as usual to the plot twists, special effects, and witty one liners of Stargate SG1, and I gotta say, SG1 is the single best show on TV in my opinion. Stargate Atlantis I watch too, gotta love the characters, but the story needs a bit more work. Next season of SGA oughta be better. Also, on Adult swim is this way cool show called Wolf’s Rain. Totally bitchin that someone finally got wolfs right :D
Books, oh yeah, gotta love David Brin. This summer I read some eight books of his (even bought one of them). The dude is a friggin genius. You have got to read some of his books. Kiln People is the shit! Also, I'm kinda (and I use the term loosely) reading The Miocene Arrow by Sean McMullen. Its an awesome setting, to bad the guy couldn’t carry a tempo in a bucket :P In Mrs. Boe’s Mysteries class were reading this somewhat lame book called “Who Killed My Daughter”. It sucks for the most part, mainly because of the damn psychic lady. When will people learn, psychics are the realm of sciffy and thus should be cool :D
Sky Captain and the World of Tomorrow, I have to see this movie, it looks like a blend of very cool thing I've ever thought up :D That’s about it for movies :P I really watch them, but they never seem to stick well to my mind. Really wouldn’t mind seeing “Shawn of the Dead” even if it is supposed to be a terrible movie :D
Final words as of now? Old school airplanes, aliens, and mechs are the shit.
